6 Piece Bamboo Dinner Set - review

The world is so used to using plastic products now that it’s sadly part of our everyday life. It’s cheap, convenient, easily available and light. However, it’s also becoming clear that it’s really not the best choice of product because of various health reasons and for it’s disrupting the human life cycle along with aquatic life cycle and other animals and plants species. One time use plastics are washing up on shores around the world.  Even worst, they are being found in the bellies, around the necks and in the noses of animals. Thus, harming the life cycle of aquatic animals. It has been proven that all plastic secretes oestrogen imitators that are a precursor to cancers and other related health issues. EEK!

We are a generation trying to better ourselves, striving to find better materials that benefit not only ourselves but for our planets future. Bamboo is now become a popular alternative to plastic, I cant stroll through Instagram without seeing beautiful bamboo sets dressed with fish fingers, a company reached out to me and I thought that this would be a great way for me to discover if these plates could replace my colourful plastic IKEA ones.

Why Use Bamboo?

Bamboos are Eco-friendly. They absorb carbon dioxide and release a major amount of oxygen into the atmosphere than any other tree. Moreover, let’s clear the myth, bamboo belongs to the grass family and is not a tree. It is naturally organic and does not require pesticides, fertilisers or irrigation to enhance growth.  Bamboo instead grows like a weed. It is antibacterial & hypoallergenic. Bamboo turns out to be a versatile crop.

Bamboo is quickly becoming very popular due to its ease of growth and cultivation. It can grow in many kinds of climates and reproduces both quickly and easily.

Today, reusable bamboo knives, spoons and forks are as readily available as cups, plates and trays. Strong and elegant products have caused this new industry to get a lot of attention for its ingenious new uses for bleach and toxin-free development and production processes.

The owner is Laavanya and her company is AziOri and here is their company's story.

"I absolutely love my kids and worry about what type of world they grow up in, not just them but all the children. I worry about the plastic waste and the impact it has on the environment.

When I was trying to wean my youngest and all i could find in my supermarket were products made from plastic. That is why I decided to launch a product that was environmentally friendly, sustainable and biodegradable which is made from bamboo. 

Also, I believe that mealtime should be a fun experience for children with vibrant and colourful cute animal-themed bamboo dinner sets, and colourful napkins to adore!  This product has all the things a little one to and needs to encourage them to learn to self-feed with confidence.

I started this company in the hope of making a small difference in this world and show my children that anything is possible and I believe that there is no greater gift than that I can give them.

I want to launch other products and where possible make them eco-friendly and sustainable but that is for later...

I hope your kids enjoy the products as much as my little ones have. They were the ones who chose these designs and were excited by this product."

My Thoughts

The sets come in the styles of a rabbit and a raccoon, Cora chose the raccoon because of its bright yellow colour. A raccoon isn't usually an animal you see every often on products so I also loved that this was a bit different from your average cat and dog images.

It came in a eco friendly recyclable box which clearly displayed the set inside, I thought as I opened this that this would make a great present for a child or a new mother. The box also stated all the benefits of using bamboo as an alternative which I felt was very informative for a first time user.

Cora was the one we really had to please, as she would be the one using it after all. She loved how all the items had the same images and matched, this meant she could always use the plates for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

On the first night of using them, she was very excited. We had a bit of a picnic tea so the dividing spaces were great for that, Cora doesn't have any issues when it comes to food or eating but I liked the dividers as I am aware that many children struggle with the idea of food touching and this would be great for addressing that.

They cleaned easily with soap and water in the sink, dried quickly and were ready to use again for the next meal.

I was quite impressed overall with the product earth friendly, durable and with a fun design. Its pretty affordable at 15.99 a set which again I think is a great price point for a gift.

Its also came with a cute little napkin which I thought was a very nice touch.
