8 Simple ways to treat Yo’self
No matter what time of year it is, it is always a great time to recalibrate and focus on a little bit of self-care. After all, if momma ain't happy, ain’t nobody happy.
When you take some time for yourself, and do some things that you love, then it means that you can be better able to care for your family and others.
Summer is a really good time to focus on a little more self-care, because although the sun may be shining, life can be busy and the children will be out of school and needing more from you than usual.
So it can be a really good time to focus on some of the finer things of life. Here are just a few of the things that you could do to get you started.
1.Take yourself out on a walk. Physically moving around is something that can really clear your mind, as you are out in the great outdoors, as well as burning calories, and having time by yourself. So take some time to be by yourself for a walk, take in some deep breaths of the fresh air, and enjoy all that Mother Nature has to offer.
2.If you want to do something that can help you to feel good, as well as de-stress, then spend some time with animals. It could be a pet of your own, a friend’s dog, a zoo, or farm.
Whatever you choose, spending time with animals is something that has been proven to reduce stress and lower blood pressure.
3.Learning something new like a craft, can be a great way to enjoy some self-care. Picking up a new hobby may seem a little daunting, but the challenge of doing something new can be really rewarding. There is a sense of accomplishment that comes with trying something new and seeing it through, as well as ending up with something homemade at the end of it.
4.Treating yourself to something new can be a literal thing that you can do to treat yourself. It could be that you get yourself something new from somewhere like Piercing Mania, or treating yourself to something that you like, such as a new houseplant. Even your favourite chocolate bar can be a little treat for yourself.
5.Redecorating, or even rearranging a room in your home, can be a lovely little way to indulge in a little self-care, especially if it is a space that you have been wanting to sort for a little while. Creating a space that helps you to feel special can do wonders for how you feel and your well-being. So how about pick a room in the home and think about what you can do to make it much more comfortable.
6.Having a movie night can be a great way to relax and unwind, whether by yourself or not. A movie night is something that is pretty casual and cozy, and a way to have people round without having to stress over the details of it all (unless you’d rather just be by yourself). Simply choose one of your favourite movies, get some snacks, and have fun.
7.Spending a little time on yourself, which includes your skin, can be something that can help you to feel good. How many times have you headed off to bed without giving your skin some proper love that it needs? It can be so easy as a mum, but taking some time for your skincare routine can be really important, and one of the ultimate ways to care for yourself. You aren’t just caring about your physical self, but how you treat your skin, with moisturising and cleansing, can be really therapeutic.
8.Who else has been clearing out their homes after watching a bit of ‘Marie Kondo’ and only keeping things that spark joy? So think about taking some time out to organize your drawers; it can be really satisfying, and won’t take too long to do so, especially if you do it one at a time. It might seem like a bit of a chore, but doing something like this can create a sense of space, and improve your well-being when you’re around a less cluttered space. You can donate the things that you no longer need, which can be a great thing to do, or even sell the things that you don’t want anymore, of course.
