Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs review - Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2019
ARGH, ME HEARTIES! Its time for Mrs Pie’s finale dress rehearsal with Flinn, Pearl and Tom in Captain Flinn and the dinosaur pirates and you are all invited along to watch.
New theatre company Les Petits have adapted Giles Andreae and Russell Ayto's book which features the winning combination of pirates and dinosaurs and we went along to enjoy the show this Edinburgh Fringe at the Pleasance courtyard.
Mrs Pie welcoming the audience was a nice touch and Cora got a laugh from seeing the bearded teacher in a wig and dress, this really set the fun tone of the show.
The energetic show was filled with stunning puppets, toe tapping tunes and lots of imaginative prop play, I know it wasn’t planned but the theatre itself seemed to fit nicely into the run of the play, just like you would imagine a school assembly room to be like.
Old school slapstick (my favourite) runs through the entire show which hilarious puns and “dad jokes” which felt the me next to me in tears of laughter, I was smiling too but clearly, he was a massive fan of a dad joke or two, ha!
Despite the scary Captain T-Rex, my daughter thought he was the best bit with his funny lines and short arms and it seemed the impressive costume just added to the thrill or the whole show.
Overall the show was enjoyable though some parts were a bit slow for me but my daughter loved it and we left smiling and repeating the lines we laughed at.
I would recommend this show for anyone aged 4 and over, prepare for corny dad jokes and uncontrollable giggles
