Hard Rock Cafe Edinburgh - Review
This was a complete first for us and we were so excited about it but also completely unsure, we were invited to a restaurant to enjoy a FREE meal and all they wanted me to do was post an Instagram pic!
The concept of this is not a new thing for bloggers, reviewers and Instagramers but it was a new one for me. I don’t think many would refuse a free day out with the family in return for a picture of us enjoying the day but I did keep asking my husband, “why me?”
Anyway, that’s for another post.
This post is a review for our visit to The Hard Rock Café Edinburgh, we weren’t asked to write an actual blog review but I was so impressed by it all, I felt I needed too.
If you have never heard of the hard rock café you must be living under a rock as Hard Rock is an internationally famous brand and still a very popular choice going by the busy Sunday afternoon when we visited.
What began as an American burger joint in London has become a worldwide collection of tourist destinations. From Las Vegas to Bali, Oslo to Johannesburg, Hard Rock’s giant neon guitar looms above the fray, a beacon signalling good ol’ American food and walls coated with rock 'n' roll memorabilia. Like a seasoned band, Hard Rock has changed its tune a bit over the years, expanding into hotels, casinos, live music venues and all-inclusive resorts. And yet, much remains the same—like all those T-shirts, and the flair-loving wait staff.
We arrived a little early so they weren’t ready for us (remember I’m a anxious mess and I’m always early) but they were able to get our booking up and seated very quickly. A highchair was provided for Cassi and we were given our menus.
Sadly they didn’t have any crayons left for Cora and she was very disappointed by this, I know this can happen especially after busy times. We had things in our bag though to entertain the kiddies so it wasn’t that bad.
We were introduced to our lovely server, Rel. She has been a part of the Hard Rock family for some time and showed Cora her badges she had collected from the cafes she had worked in around the world. She was very knowledgeable and Cora absolutely loved her, she had a great way with the kiddies.
I have eaten only once at a Hard rock and it was in Amsterdam, so the Edinburghs café was a first for me. The menu was impressive and I was also dazzled with the wide range of choices the children were given, excellent healthy ones too. The price of 7.95 which includes a drink is average for a child’s meal on the busy George street in Edinburgh city centre and we found them pretty good value as they were huge!
Cora had her fave Mac and cheese and Cassi had a hot dog, both enjoyed their lunch but both LOVED the hot fudge sundaes for afters, which I felt was a bargain at £1.75.
I went for the big cheese burger and upgraded my fries to the cheesy ones, the potions were 'Merica massive. I often don’t eat my bun with my burger but this time I manged nearly all of it and I was quite impressed with myself. It was tasty, cooked well and I really enjoyed it though I would have had more cheese on my fries (I freakin love cheese), I couldn’t fault it at all, it was a delicious meaty burger. Thumbs up from me!
Hubbie had wings, he says they are the best in town and the cheese dip sauce is so tasty he could drink it. He also went for the pulled pork sandwich called the Texan and it looked just as good as it did in the menu! My husband has a big appetite and devoured the whole thing, still claiming the wings were the best in town. Cassi pinched some of my husbands food and it got his approval.
Despite being stuffed our server Rel, she said the Oreo cheesecake was her favourite and the picture in the menu did make it look good. Oh goodness, we were weak! And Oh Thank goodness we were because it was AMAZING!!! We ate the whole thing…
We were well and truly finished after the cheesecake, our bellies full and our faces happy.
Rel, looked after us so well and even gifted Cora one of her pins from her collect from Hard rock, that Cora is now proudly wearing on her jacket. She told all her friends at nursery about the “best place ever” and her new friend on Monday.
Overall this was a lovely family day out and the restaurant was everything you could need. Good food, great service and a nice busy atmosphere.
Though we didn’t have any the range of cocktails looked impressive and you could even take away one of the iconic cocktail glasses if you wanted. The place just has a fun, vibe for all.
Thank you Hard Rock for looking after us, we had a great lunch and we will definitely be back.
